An Enduro is a race over a variety of terrain. The course is planned out with a series of checkpoints. At each checkpoint the rider is scored.
There are basically 2 types of Enduros, the traditonal timekeeping and the national, test format.
In the traditional timekeeping event, the race is a challenge for both rider, machne and the clock. Each section is timed, a ride is not only to race but stay on time, the fastest rider does not always win. Some checkpoints are hidden so you are guessing where they are while you watch the clock and the mileage.
The newer National format is more like a series of mini harescrambles. You ride up to a section on time then Checkin and go as fast as you can to the check point. The fastest rider wins.
The ECEA uses the traditional timekeeping format, some events will check you in and check you out without too much trickery.
