Do I have to belong to the ECEA to race ?

No, you can race any event with just an AMA membership. The Enduro and Hare Scramble Series only requires belonging to an ECEA Club for year end awards. But we do encourage that you consider joining a club to help perserve the quality of events that the ECEA produces. The ECEA also works closely with the local people to support their economy and protect their land from abuse and over riding.
