The DER gang delivered another stellar event . Even with Mother Nature dumping rain on the event Saturday evening, Sunday morning opened with sunny skies and a cool breeze. The first ever double PeeWee and Youth events started from the same line then split into two separate courses only to run back to a common scoring area. This layout proved to be an effective and unique way to save time and keep all races on schedule throughout the day. Jaudas, Gill, and Hall topped the youth Overall. Chase Rusden has wrapped up the youth championship but the battle continues in the ranks. PeeWee rider Kyle Tino stayed smart in the mud to claim the top overall and class win. The weather and track improved as the adults took on the Delaware course. In the C Event the C 200 group tore up the track with Willenbrock, Hiller, and Kivela taking the top 3 overall spots. In the Main Event, Mike Laffery just ripped the track up from a dead last start to a 45 second lead on lap one. Mike, on his Husaberg, held the lead to the checkered. The series battle wages on with Stoner taking 2nd and DeLong taking 3rd. The ECEA Championship will come down to the next event as DeLong holds a slim margin over Stoner.

Sunday was the day. The youth got off in a rainy mist that had the course changing lines and look with every lap. With riders getting stuck, new lines forming and just water-sand mix through the air, Corby Gill and Chase Rusden came to the top of the heap. Full results will be posted soon.
The C Event was also in the full rain mode. It started to ease up a little in the rain department as a cool wind blew away the heavy rain. The course was rough and tough which called for a two lap race. The leaders came in under an hour but the majority took 1 hour and 20 minutes+ to complete the event.
As the day was still filled with misty air, strong wind gusts and cool temps, the Main Event got under way at 1:35 pm. Within the first mile the riders had goggles hanging and faces full of mud and sand. Mike Lafferty on his Husaberg was setting a pace but ECEA riders DeLong and Stoner were on a mission. Those three riders just pulled the field by one minute each lap. By lap four, the gang pitted and the white flag came out. Stoner dropped off the pace a bit but DeLong just pushed and pushed the champ. In another hard earned top spot was Nick Davis riding from the B200 (Light) class who hung tough and rode hard to the 3rd overall position. Nick has been riding hard trying to make that top spot and is very much on his way. Last year Nick was the Top Youth rider.
Saturday's events went off great. Hats off to the riders who endured the cool weather and misty air.
Preliminary results from Saturday: ATV Youth - ATV Adults - PeeWee Sunday Results will be up soon. |
