The 3rd Event of the ECEA Championship Hare Scrambles Series is in the book now. Mother Nature changed the game on MCI by dumping rain on Sunday but Saturday was perfect race weather on a perfect ECEA FastKIDZ course prepared by MCI. Still 500 racers got to have their weekend racing in the ECEA.
The FastKIDZ all got off on time with a rumble. ECEA VP Ken Held was our MC for the weekend with mic in hand shouting out to all. John Castadi and Dave Nash handled the KIDZ awards and as you can see the smiles. This face from the young Ferrara is why we all do what we do in the ECEA. These FastKIDZ will bring us back into the future.
Saturday Night was the first MotoSurf exhibition at the ECEA. Local talent, MX Pros and our own riders got together to race some MX, GP style at Sahara Sands. Great group of people and so much Fun. !!!
Sunday was a bit wet at 7am as sign up opened, some fast work to block the rain drops and the game was on. Nearly 400 Adults riders backed the house. Staging the starting line was the first task for the C Event as the roadway into the start area was a small stream flowing that quicky becames sand soup, the riders got a fast warm up and lesson in throttle control just navigating to the start. Once the Start got off at 10:15 it was Racing. This riders did awesome. the every changing sand course was ruogh and tough. Finishers got a hugh thumbs up for the amazing ride.
After clearing the carnage from the morning C event and more rain delays, the MCI crew rerouted, changes and set up an awesome Main event course with a 1:30 start. Jesse Groeme paved the way with McDonal and Stoner dicing it out. Len Rehatchek rode steady and hard for a much deserved 4th overall. Those top 4 riders just mentioned have been in the youth ranks of the ECEA and all have shared that same smile. They are still smiling. MCI had around $4K in the purse to the AA/A riders and a huge amount added in swag for the kidz plus the awards for all classes.
