After recently losing my beloved old gas can, I went to get a replacement but was reminded of what I already knew to be true: every single one sold now has redundant, safety locking, self venting, EPA mandated crap built into the spout that ends up spilling more gas than it gets into your tank.
Anyway after doing a little searching I finally found a great one and figured I'd pass it along for anyone else looking. The LC Utility Jug from Motosport is only $28.99 and built like a tank; its heavyweight, well made and has a huge cap/mouth good for pouring in premix. The flexible filler hose is included and even with standard shipping I got it in 2 days. Best thing is it has a small screw off vent cap for smooth pouring. Caveat is that is sold as a 'utility jug' but I don't know any self respecting, independently owned gas station that wouldn't dispense into it.

Your going to have an issue getting that filled with gas in NJ for sure. They want a RED only jug. Don't even think about going to a wawa.

P N # 15501 - Red (Gasoline)
P N # 15502 - Blue (Kerosene)
P N # 15503 - Clear (HazMat)
P N # 15504 - Yellow (Diesel)

I have mine I received from the banquet still. Great can. Have been using it ever since and never had a problem getting fuel in it. The stations around me hand me the pump when they see the can with the pre mix oil in it. The VP can is a good can. Another note: I probably wouldn't put wawa gas in my bike.

I hate the breather on all of these types of cans for the spill factor. Here's an ez way to fix it. Drill a hole in the breather to accept a plastic tube tightly. Take the hose (shown) and make a bologna cut in it. Stick it in the breather hole so the bolgna end touches the bottom. Cut the excess tube about a half inch from top. Now take the stock filler hose ove the top and tighten wit a hose clamp. Now the air will go where it should at the bottom of the can. I used a pvc to replace out going fuel.

Jim A: You are the "forever tinkerer" with great ideas. But should we store it next to an electric heater?

LOL

I agree about the cans you can buy now at the local Wally World, they are the biggest pain in the xxx. I wonder what professional wizbang politician came up with that law. Im glad I still have a few older style cans left.

Jim, Is the hose clamp going around the main black screw on cap for the important reason I think it is or for another reason ???

I over tightened the threads on the inside of the cap. It was a pvc nut. Most educations aren't free. I recommend not using the pipe filler. You just can't resist carrying it by the pipe which gets loose or cracks.

On the piromania issue.....besides the heater being unplugged, a foot away is my standard. If I go up in smoke remember me as "The Roman Candle"
