hey guys me and a buddy of mine are switching from awrcs series to ecea this season and we're both a little unclear on the classes. awrcs is set up a little different than you guys are and different than my series before them which was pa state hs championship series but i think if memory serves correctly you guys are set up closer to them than anything. would some kind soul please go over the classes for me again(i'll post specific questions below) mainly b class(he's racing a ktm 450 4 stroke) and c class(i have a yammi 426 but i'm also picking up a ktm 250 2 stroke this week, would i be able to switch bikes accordingly or would i have to choose one and stick with it?) sorry if this is in the wrong spot i was trying to find some info on here i didn't want to start a new topic if it's already been hashed out but time is ticking and i can't seem to find a defiitive post that clears it up for me.

to recap:

a b class rider on a ktm 450 four stroke would he be able to race in the open b class? he knows he can race the four stroke b class but would prefer open b.

and for c class, can i race open c and switch between my 426 and the 250 2 stroke depending on how froggy i'm feeling or do i have to commit to one bike for the season? either way it doesn't matter i just need to be straight on all this. we are very serious about racing and this series looks like our ticket. i raced one race with you guys a couple years ago, the sper oxbo race i think it was but it ran with the pa state hs series. that was the funnest race i have raced in my career to date. i've come a long way and anxious to see how i place this season on a new bike and a bit of experience under my belt. you guys had a top notch setup though and it was really appreciated by us. we look forward to the season and many to come...

oh last thing, please can someone clear up the year end points and needing to be a member of a club to qualify for them? we literally have no club within 2 hours of us. not since last time i checked anyway. we are in blair county area of pa. this would sadly be a huge deal i think if i'm understanding things right. if anyone can help it would be really appreciated... i'll unfortunately be missing the first race maybe 2, i have some things i have to take care of but i look forward to the season and a top notch group of guys/gals. thanks

Even though the nearest club is 2 hours away, the idea is to have you join club and help put on an event. If nobody was in clubs, we would not have any events.

You might give SPER a call. I am sure they would love your help even if you can't drive 2 hours to a meeting during the week. you have been to their hare scrambles, and there enduro is in the Michaux state forest (2 hours from you).

Also you have SORR. They also meet a distance from your home, but their enduro is in Blain PA which is within 2 hours of your house. Talk to them and see if you can join to help even if you can't attend club meetings.

Welcome to the ECEA. I started racing Hare Scrambles last year, and I have to agree with you--the ECEA Hare Scrambles are a blast.

I am pretty sure that in the C and B Open classes you can run whichever bike you want, and you can switch back and forth through the season while staying in that class. However, your bike MIGHT need to be 251cc or bigger. I'm not sure about that. If so, your 250 2 stroke might not be okay for the open class. Hopefully some one with more knowledge chimes in.

Regarding year-end points, the top three C riders in each class receive an award, and they don't have to be club members. The top ten B riders in each class receive a year-end award, but they DO have to be a club member.

Being a club member does mean a minimum time commitment around big events, but you can probably remain a member in good standing without attending many monthly meetings. I would say pick the club nearest you, go to a monthly meeting to make some contacts and get a job to do for the day of the big event, and show up early and ready to work on that day. Of course, the more you can contribute to the club the better, but the minimum required really isn't that hard to accomplish.

See you at the races!

I have no problem what so ever joining a club. I was just unsure of what the 'minimum' requirements actually consisted of. Heck I'd love to see a club open up around here I'd be there every chance I got. Me and my friend that is racing this series with me put in a 9 mile loop behind my property just so we had something to practice on. It took us the better part of four months to rough it in and over what, two years now to get it to where it flows. It's mainly single track with some quad trails mixed in for some fast sections but we do that kind of thing just because we love the sport. If it means doing the same for a club with a group of other like minded individuals then sign me up :)

and for c class, can i race open c and switch between my 426 and the 250 2 stroke depending on how froggy i'm feeling or do i have to commit to one bike for the season?

You're B rider buddy is good for the 4-stk or B open class. The 426 can run open but the 250 will run C med.
SORR (or SPER) would be happy to have you as a member but we do require you to work at least the weekend of our enduro. Welcome aboard! :)

Mike thanks for the invite. I'd be happy to join SORR(SPER) is that two different clubs or two different names for the same one? Either way I assume the information I need to join can be found on here or an you shoot me a link? (never mind I figured it out :P )I'm pretty sure you just got two new members :) I have absolutely no problem working the race. I've never worked a race before but whatever you need me to do im glad to help.

Oh also, David, so you're saying that I can in fact run either bike in c open then correct? Sorry for sounding dense I just want to be 100% clear on everything.
