Can anyone suggest a place to send a FCR carb for a cleaning/service? I have a low hour 02 YZ426 that sat since the 05 Moonshine Enduro. Needless to say the carb needs some work!
Thanks, Rob

Rob,

I wouldn't send it anywhere. Those carbs are really easy to work on. A rebuild kit will get you every possible rubber seal that may be dry rotted and it takes 2 seconds to go thru all the jets. Sudco is usually the place to get carb parts.

I sent one out to Dave Hopkins in Washington (DJH on KTMtalk...a guru on KTM 4 stroke motors and very respected on that site). About $100 and he goes over everything. Also had him do a couple top end/valve jobs. VERY thorough and honest...doesn't go for the up sell.

I always send my carbs to Tokyo mods, i even have a brand new (2008) rmz that i never rode once, first thing i did was send the carb to Tokyo mods. The bike felt like it had Fuel Injection in throttle response .there was a coupon too in the Scrub Pine packet, if u dont have one, let me know. Trust me, those factory bikes have more then motorwork done to them (when they werent FI)

TOKYO MODS really do put a cool touch to the bike as like Mike mentioned it makes smooth and controled throttle response.. Hard to believe it could feel like it but it is like a fuel injected bike when done...

Thanks for the replies! Id do the carb myself but since it has been sitting for the last 6 years the carb gummed up and that chrystalized stuff formed inside of the bowl. I couldnt get the pilot out so Id rather not mess with it and possibly damage the carb. Im planning on selling it when its back together.
Mike Sigety, I wasnt at Scrub Pine, could you spare a coupon? I tried sending a PM but it wouldnt let me.

Hey Rob, if it would work, you can have my coupon for Tokyo Mods. As much as I appreciate it, I'm not going to use it and would like to see someone enjoy it. Lemmie know I can drop it off with Lissa before the weekend.

Anyone,
Does the DRZ 400 E have an FCR carb too? If so,I just started having carb problems and would also like to use Tokyo Mods.
If someone would care to trade something for their bicycle for a coupon,I would be interested. How much is the coupon worth?
Probably best to call me at 732 946 9080 The Bicycle Hub.
Thanks,Wally Tunison

Thanks Scott! Wally, the DRZ400E and K models have the FCR carb. The 07 DRZ400E didnt get it and got the Mikuni BSR CV carb. The 07 was basically a stripped down S model.
Lissa wont let me keep it, she cant stand it so it has to go. (i will ride it a few times though just to make sure i dont like it)

if anyone is interested i have a pdf from keihin that goes over some of the finer points of tuning the fcr's. i found it rather helpful setting up my jetting. i'm not sure how to upload it here though and not sure where i can host it. i'll try to find the original link and post a link to it but if anyone has any suggestions how to upload it i'm all ears.

oh... 426 you say? nice bike ;) that's what i've been riding/racing this past year and a half and love it actually. i'm looking for a 2 stroke but plan on keeping the 426. i'll likely never sell this bike it's just way too much fun. a bit heavy but nowhere nearly so as my old yellow trail bikes :P

btw yes i do realize this is 3 months old lol... and if anyone is interested try this link... http://dl.dropbox.co...706/www.ae86.hu

just change it to .pdf and it should work with reader. at least it does on my mac
