Now that more and more is being done with computers for scoring, keeping points, and now registration, the need is here to coordinate the various abbreviations that we use for such things as class names and club names.

To the computer, AA, A A, and A-A are different, where to the person, they are the same.

Same with TCS, TCSMC, Tri-C, They all mean Tri-County Sportsmen to us, but not to the computer.

This information needs to be coordinated so that Barry can calculate teams, and year end awards without manually converting 300 riders X 18 events.

Clubs can download the list of standard abbreviations from within their club interface on the on-line rider management system, as well as a complete listing of all the ECEA riders.

If your club does not yet have the password, please have ONE designee (preferably the president) contact me for your password.

I am also attaching the list of the standards here, but I am only making the riders list available from within the system for security reasons.Attached File  ecea_data_standards.xls (16K)
Number of downloads: 21

John, I would suggest that you remove NVTR (Northern Virginia Trail Riders) from the DB as it's not a recognized ECEA Club. All NVTR members should be GMER with a couple exceptions.

Thanks
Rob

No C-4 Stroke?

ELIMC == Eastern Long Island Motorcycle Club? I don't believe they are a recognized ECEA club either.

Ah the ol' "special (ed)" and "problem" classes, huh..

There is a new version of this file posted that addresses these errors, as well as some others.

I left ELIMC in because there are still some members that ride even though they receive no points.

SPECIAL is in case somebody runs a non-standard class like sidecars or something, and PROBLEM is for the obvious. (like if they don't fill it out on their pre-entry you assign them there)

someone asked why AA has no space like A 125. that's because the first character is the 'major' class and the next part is the subclass. AA is the major class because it is 'higher' than A. A A would technically (literally) be part of the A class, and not correct. Whew, my brain hurts now.
