I went to click on youth hare scramble sticky link and I got a warning that said it potentially contained malware, so I didn't allow the link to open. My question is do I have to sign-up in advance for an annual riding number and transponder for my 5 year old kid to try the 50cc beginner event at Ridge? Are there day numbers I can sign up with at the day of the event? I don't want to go through the effort and expense if my kid is going to ride 5 minutes and quit for the remainder of the season. I brought my son to a Tykes on Bikes other series event earlier this year and it was very low key for him to sign up and try racing. Thanks in advance for giving me the 411.

we dont have tikes on bikes as AMA does not permit it for obvious reasons. Most states require a youth to be 4 to ride a motorized vehicle. 2ndly u can sign up for the day. I dont know what the fee is but it is relatively inexpensive. I am not sure if the club hosting the event will require AMA membership as some clubs are going elsewhere for insurance and AMA may not be necassary

what stick was infected, link...?

thanks

You need AMA $50
If you are riding for fun the day number is $10
Riding fees vary by venue $20-30
Gate fee is approx $5

I hope you will come and enjoy one of our events. THANKS.. the 500c bikes run for almost an hour, the course is adult / mom/dad, accessible. approx 1.5 miles loops close to base camp.

please let me know about the sticky or bad link

Stop out an check out Ridge HS. The 50 class is a great place to start. If he did Tykes for Bikes with some success, he should be ok in the ECEA 50 class. Less kids and 45 min of ride time.

Thanks all. Since I am a Ridge Rider, I'm already going up to work the event. I'll probably hold off this time. He's more into his bicycle now anyway. Mike S., I sent you a PM a while back as I am going to do scoring for Ridge. Norm Harris said to me that Marc Grossman is coming up with the trailer. If that is true, I will take from Marc's lead.

I replied to your pm and also emailed you.

I do the scoring and have had some health issues but will be there along with Lisa , the sign up lady.

I need some help setting up, it takes an hour or so, moving stuff in and out of trailer to sign up, TECH etc etc. Normally the HS committee has people around to help guide the process.

Ridge has a nice compact area with sign up, scoring and Tech all in one place.

Please download the Hare Scramble guide that explains what each club needs to do in order to prepare for the event. Having some one from the club responsible for the scoring area is good, as the guide explains what is needed, flagger, back up people, etc etc..

Thanks and see you all next week.

Hi Aaron,

No rush to get him racing. I think there will be plenty of opportunity for him to ride with other kid's that weekend. Building confidence in a young rider/racer is key for a happy kid. Some start sooner than other's. No Big deal.... He will have a long future on a dirt Bike.

See you soon
Carmen
