2002 Youth Hare Scramble Rules

A. General Information
1. Through the establishment and enforcement of various rules and
procedures, E.C.E.A. strives to regulate motorcycle competition in the fairest manner.
By participating in a AMA meet, each participant agrees to abide by the E.C.E.A./AMA rules and procedures

B. Rules
1. E.C.E.A./AMA youth rules apply.

2. A helmet is required and shatter proof goggles or a face shield must
be worn. A long sleeve shirt or jacket and boots, a minimum of eight inches
high are required. Leather pants or approved motor cross pants must be
worn..

3. To compete you must be a AMA member and no younger then 7 years of age (except in the 0 to 51 class) and no older then 15 years of age. The
referee or clerk of the course may ask to see proof of age at sign in. Proof of age must be available at all AMA sanctioned events. All Youth racers must
be a AMA member.

4. Parents, legal guardians or authorized adults must remain present at
all times during participation of AMA member in any sanctioned youth
event.

5. When parents or legal guardians are not present, authorized adults must have a notarized letter from the parents or legal guardians to allow a
child to race.

6. The rider must be large enough and mature enough to control his or her machine at all times and to ride it safely. The referee has the right to
disqualify a rider that cannot control his or her motorcycle safely.

7. A riders age on January 1st will determine his/her age for the year. However, a rider may move up to the next higher age class if he/she will
be eligible to do so at any time during the year, but once a rider moves to the higher age class he/she may not move back to the lower age class. Riders are encouraged to determine at the beginning of the points season which age class they will participate in for the point season/year. Points earned in thelower age class will not transfer to the higher age class.

8. ALL AMA sanctioned E.C.E.A. youth hare scramble events will be counted toward the points championships, there will be no throw a ways! All races
count.

9. A rider must finish the event to be eligible for points. To finish, a rider needs to complete at least 50% as many laps as the winner of his
class. It is not necessary to take the checkered flag to finish.

10. Ties are to be broken by comparing the number of first, second, third, etc. finishes, until the ties are resolved.

11. Points will be kept by the E.C.E.A. youth points chairman/referee, each rider is responsible for keeping his/her points totals and competing in his/her correct class.

12. Start at 30 sec. or 1 minute intervals for each youth class.

C. General Offenses

1. In any way trying to gain a unfair advantage.

2. riding in such a manner as to endanger the life or limb of others.

3. Riders or family and pit crew who direct foul or abusive language to a official of a sponsoring club, promoter, or district official are subject to disqualification for the entire meet. Any unnecessary trouble caused by these individuals (riders, family or pit crew) puts the rider at risk for disqualification.

4. All protest must be filed within 30 minutes of the posting of the results of the event in question.

5. Final determination of the timeliness of the protest will rest with the meet referee and such decision will be final to all concerned.

The E.C.E.A. youth chairman/referee may disqualify any rider for actions deemed unsportsman like or in violation of rules.
